FSU basketball: Noles look for regular season sweep over Louisville
By Kelvin Hunt
FSU basketball (7-16, 5-7 ACC) has lost three consecutive games, including an abysmal performance in a blowout loss against NC State earlier this week.
The Noles will travel to Louisville Saturday afternoon, looking to secure a regular season sweep of the Cardinals. FSU basketball rolled past the Cardinals by 20 points earlier this season and enter this game as -5 betting favorites.
The points total under/over is 143.5, which implies a 74-69 win for the Noles. Louisville has the worst overall record in the ACC at 3-19 but managed to defeat Georgia Tech by 10 points at home in their last outing to break a 10-game losing streak.
The Cardinals only have one player averaging in double figures, guard El Ellis at 17 ppg. They shoot 41 percent overall, 32.6 percent from the three-point line, and average 16 turnovers. The first game saw the Noles play a well-rounded game. They shot 45 percent overall and were 7 of 19 from three-point range.
They won the battle of the boards handily and forced 16 turnovers while only turning it over nine times. They were also 12 of 16 from the free-throw line. Caleb Mills and Cam Corhen led the scoring with 16 and 15 points.
Matthew Cleveland has 12 points and eight rebounds. Center Naheem McLeod played and had six points and five rebounds.
McLeod hasn’t played since the Miami game but looks to make the trip to Louisville. It’s a game FSU basketball should win as long as they give good effort.
The last game against NC State saw the Wolfpack shoot a blistering 53 percent overall and 69 percent from the three-point line in the first half. It was the third consecutive game FSU dug themselves into a double-digit hole in the first five minutes of the game.
Can they avoid another letdown Saturday? Louisville is the perfect team to find a win against on schedule.
