Parting Thoughts

It’ll be interesting to see how quickly Patrick Surtain Sr. gets to Tallahassee and hits the ground running.

He has never coached in college but has experience in the recruiting game since his son was a highly-coveted five-star recruit and No. 2 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.

Surtain could impact some transfer portal guys for 2023, so that’s something to keep an eye on as well.

I’m curious who they will offer once he gets on staff and has a chance to evaluate other recruits, particularly in-state guys. FSU has offered 19 cornerbacks, and only seven hail from Florida or Georgia (and two of those have no ranking at all).

Not that the latter means anything since I trust the coaches’ ability to evaluate. However, FSU can be more selective in this recruiting cycle since they signed so many defensive backs in the 2023 cycle.

Will the hire of Patrick Surtain Sr. open the door to guys that have already committed to other schools? It’s possible, but the biggest thing to look for is who the Noles get on campus in the next few weeks.

That will tell us about the recruits’s interest in the Noles and vice versa.
