Jared Verse

Jared Verse was one of the most sought-after players in the transfer portal, and the coaching staff needed help filling the void left by Jermaine Johnson and Keir Thomas heading to the NFL.

Verse’s recruitment went much longer than most transfer portal players, but he eventually chose the Noles, and the rest is history.

There were questions about the level of competition faced at Albany and how that transition would go as he moved to the ACC. We knew he’d be good, but not sure how good.

Well, he got injured in the third game and played several at less than 100 percent and had 47 tackles, 16.5 tackles for a loss, nine sacks, and three QB hurries. Verse earned All-ACC First Team honors.

He likely wasn’t as effective in the run game as Johnson or Thomas, but he made his presence felt early with a blocked field goal agaisnt LSU.

Verse could be a day 1-2 NFL Draft pick if he decides to go that route. He’s the final player FSU football fans are waiting on to see if he’ll return for the 2023 season.
