Mycah Pittman

FSU special teams were abysmal for the better part of the half-decade, and the Noles needed better talent at wide receiver.

That’s why Mycah Pittman was the first wide reciever the coaches took from the portal when they failed to sign wide receivers from high school in the 2022 recruiting cycle. Pittman is a former top 100 recruit with NFL bloodlines who wasted no time helping upgrade the punt returner position and wide receiver.

Pittman returned 19 punts for an 8.89 yards returned average, which is the highest average since D.J. Matthews in the 2018 season. Pittman didn’t fumble a single punt and usually made solid choices about when to let a punt hit the ground when a punt was a low line drive.

There were several occasions where he’d field those punts off a bounce to avoid losing more yardage like some past players. Pittman also brought sure hands to the receiver room, making tough catches that often helped drives continue.

He was second on the team with 32 receptions for 330 yards and three touchdowns. Pittman also rushed seven times for 35 yards.

His contributions on special teams helped the Noles go from No. 102 to No. 42, while earning All-ACC Honorable Mention. He’ll return for the 2023 season.
