Jazston Turnetine

Jazston Turnetine was one of the final players to earn a scholarship from Mike Norvell before fall camp began.

The Noles had already signed three offensive linemen from the transfer portal, and it was questionable if it was smart to take a fourth, especially someone like Turnetine, who didn’t have great tape from his previous institution(South Carolina).

However, signing Turnetine evolved into one of the smartest decisions the coaching staff made. Bless Harris and Kayden Lyles were lost for the season due to injuries.

Harris got injured in the first game of the year, which forced Turnetine into action after only being on the team for a month or so. It was shaky at first, but Turnetine got better as the season went along, playing the swing position for Alex Atkins and earning one of the highest grades in the Cheez-It Bowl before his season ended on the field with an injury.

The sight of teammates hugging Turnetine as he got carted off the field was a sign of the brotherhood and culture built at FSU, and he made his mark in his lone season with the Noles.

His presence helped the offensive line maintain a sense of continuity after guys we expected to be contributors got hurt.

I pray he has a speedy recovery to prepare for his next chapter.
