The LSU game is the game that got everything going for the 2022 season. FSU dispatched Duquesne in week zero, and Nole Nation evaded Louisiana for a week one showdown in one of the most-watched games this season.

LSU went into the game as slight betting favorites with a new coaching staff. It was their first game of the year, and FSU banked on having a game under their belt to work the kinks out for an advantage.

FSU took a 7-3 lead into halftime and exploded on the Tigers for a 24-10 lead early into the fourth quarter. LSU responded with a touchdown to cut the lead to 24-17. They forced a three-and-out but fumbled the punt return, giving the Noles the ball on the LSU eight-yard line.

FSU could have put the game away with a touchdown, but Treshaun Ward fumbled the ball at the one-yard line.

LSU went 99 yards in a 1:20 to score a touchdown as time expired, though it’s questionable if they should have had time to run that final play.

However, the ball doesn’t lie, as FSU blocked the extra point to avoid overtime. It was FSU’s second blocked kick in the game.

This win set all the expectations of winning more than 6-7 games and let everyone know FSU wasn’t going to be a doormat against big-time programs anymore.
