Defensive Tackle/Edge

FSU added Darrell Jackson, and he’ll likely do a great job of filling the void left by Robert Cooper on the defensive line.

However, the jury is still out on if Fabien Lovett and Jared Verse will return for 2023. I think FSU will get at least one to return, but that still means FSU needs experience and depth at the position, particularly at defensive tackle.

However, Keldric Faulk flipping to Auburn last week frees up another scholarship to add at defensive end. We saw FSU’s defense change drastically when Lovett and/or Verse was not in the game.

FSU needs impact players at both positions, even if both return because the younger guys had trouble stopping the run and getting pressure on the quarterback. I think players like Daniel Lyons, Ayobami Tifase, and Malcolm Ray can contribute next year.

However, FSU needs guys that can be difference-makers in the trenches. It’s why they targeted Western Michigan defensive tackle Braden Fiske.

They could also be in contact with South Carolina defensive end Giber Edmond. Additions like these two players would make FSU’s defensive line deeper and more experienced in 2023.

UPDATE: Fiske committed to FSU Monday (12/26)
