FSU football coaches continue to do major work in the transfer portal, landing their fourth for the 2023 recruiting cycle.
Colorado transfer offensive lineman Casey Roddick committed to the Noles late Sunday night after visiting over the weekend.
Roddick was team captain at Colorado last season and can play both guard and tackle. He checks in at 6’4 310 pounds with one year of eligibility left.

FSU football coaches knew they needed to fill the voids left at both guard spots with the departures of All-ACC players Dillan Gibbons and D’Mitri Emmanuel.
Ironically, both players came to FSU from the transfer portal, with Emmanuel in a similar situation as Roddick, with one year of eligibility left. FSU has some younger players that could help fill the void, but getting someone with the experience of Roddick is huge for continuity and the continued development of those younger players.
FSU beat out the likes of NC State, Baylor, and Oklahoma for Roddick’s services. FSU could take up to two more offensive linemen and have hosted UTEP’s Jeremiah Byers, Miami’s John Campell, and Auburn’s Keiondre Jones. The good news is whoever commits to the Noles will enroll and experience spring camp.
That acclimation period will allow them to get comfortable in the offense and help the coaches define the depth chart. If you remember how Dillan Gibbons impacted things in his first year, he wasn’t enrolled in the spring and didn’t have the experience of Roddick.
Gibbons remarked on the difficulty in trying to learn the offense in such a short amount of time. Roddick’s experience and enrollment in January should expedite that process, which means good things for the offensive line.
Roddick’s one year of eligibility is key since it won’t scare off younger players waiting in the wings. This addition is a nice get for Alex Atkins and the coaching staff.
