FSU football coaches continue to upgrade their roster with their second addition from the transfer portal Monday afternoon.

South Carolina tight end/do it all player Jaheim Bell announced his commitment to the Noles after officially visiting Tallahassee over the weekend.

The tight end position was a high priority, with the Noles losing starter Camren McDonald to graduation and not having much experience at the position going into the 2023 season.

Jaheim Bell was one of the most coveted players in the transfer portal, and someone with the Noles had a relationship going back to his high school recruitment.

He’s a former high school teammate with backup quarterback Tate Rodemaker and from nearby Valdosta, Georgia. Bell has two years of eligibility left and has production that surpasses FSU’s tight end position the last two seasons.

Bell had 30 receptions for 497 yards and five touchdowns in 2021. He had 25 receptions for 231 yards and two touchdowns in 2022. Bell also helped in the rushing attack, totaling 73 carries for 261 yards and three touchdowns last season.

Bell had to like what he saw from Mike Norvell’s offense over the past two seasons. Norvell has created mismatches with the tight end running free on numerous occasions.

However, instead of the ball going to a walk-on(no disrespect to Preston Daniels) at times, it’ll go to one of the most dynamic players at the position.

Bell checks in at 6’3 and 230 pounds and will have to show a willingness to block, but the passing attack just got more dangerous to go along with all of the receivers coming back for 2023.

FSU averaged almost 36 ppg last year and was the most explosive offense nationally, while only throwing the ball 43 percent of the time. FSU is in pursuit of another major tight end target, Kyle Morlock, who was on an official visit to campus this weekend with Bell. If they land both, the sky is the limit for FSU’s offense in 2023.
