FSU quarterback Jordan Travis was responsible for the FSU football offense becoming the most explosive unit in college football this season.

The improvement he made over the last year should have had him in the conversation for the best quarterback in college football.

The good news for FSU fans? Jordan Travis announced he plans to return for his final season in 2023.

He made the announcement Monday night on Twitter:

Thoughts

I wrote about the offensive improvement FSU football experienced between the 2021 and 2022 seasons. A large portion of that was the development of Jordan Travis as a quarterback.

We saw glimpses of that improvement in the final three games of the 2021 season. However, Travis took that improvement to unprecedented heights, much more than anyone thought possible(including myself).

He no longer had to use his legs to be a productive quarterback, but they became a bonus whenever he wanted to make opposing defenses look foolish.

Just ask the Florida Gators. Jordan Travis is on pace to eclipse 3,300 total yards this year and could surpass 25 passing touchdowns if he throws three in the bowl game against Oklahoma.

He’s completing a career-high 63 percent of his passes, and that number would likely be higher if FSU wide receivers didn’t have several drops in a few games. Jordan Travis returning likely means FSU football will be among the favorites to win the ACC Conference and could compete for a College Football Playoff spot if a couple of holes on the FSU defense get plugged after departures.

The offense easily averaged 36 ppg and 6.86 ypp this season, and it’s possible it could be even better in 2023.

I anticipate nearly everyone returning, and the offensive line might be even better in 2023, plus Winston Wright will return after missing all season. Jordan Travis is already one of the most beloved Noles in recent memory, and he has a chance to add to that legacy in 2023.
