FSU Offense will average 6 ypp or more

Here is what I wrote:

"I expect the FSU offense to improve in 2022, as they averaged 5.79 ypp last season. That was an uptick over the 5.54 ypp average in 2020 while counting reps with a quarterback playing on one leg for about a quarter of the season. The offensive line looks to be bigger and stronger, with better coaching in the offensive system. There should be fewer negative plays on average, and the passing plays should be explosive. Mike Norvell’s offenses have averaged 6.85, 7.12, and 7.35 ypp the last three years at Memphis, and that’s with less talent than what’s on the FSU football roster. I expect more explosive plays from the wide receivers, and there should be more explosive running plays if the reports coming out of practice are true. It would not surprise me to see this FSU offense average over 30 points per game in 2022. However, the biggest factor in achieving this goal is limiting the number of negative plays. FSU allowed 10.1 percent of its offensive plays to be tackled for a loss in 2021. That was a slight improvement but likely would have been much better had Jordan Travis remained healthy all season. I think he plays smarter and has better players around him this year to make this offense look closer to what we saw in Memphis."

The FSU offense was the most explosive in the nation and averaged 6.86 yards per play this year. They had a few lulls and inopportune times against Wake Forest, Clemson, and NC State.

However, they finished the regular season scoring now fewer than 38 points. The steadiness of the offensive line, the improvement of Jordan Travis, and the upgrades at wide receiver were critical reasons why we saw the success they had.
