Wide Receivers Have To Address Concerns in Offseason

The game likely wouldn’t have been close if the FSU wide receivers played a better game. It started with the Ontaria Wilson fumble after getting a first down on FSU’s first offensive possession.

Johnny Wilson had multiple drops, Wilson had one, Kentron Poitier had a couple, and Camren McDonald had at least one. Jordan Travis finished the game by completing 13 of 30 passes, but easily should have completed at least 20 of 30.

The drops were frustrating because they usually came early downs, putting the Noles in third and predictable situations.

Johnny Wilson did make a couple of tough contested catches, the second one a critical third down conversion. Kentron Poitier had a touchdown reception, and Camren McDonald had two big receptions for 44 yards.

Malik McClain had a huge 44-yard reception, but also had a drop(negated by a penalty). FSU will return the bulk of their receiver’s corp next year, and they all need to get more consistent catching the ball. If this happened, FSU likely already had 10 wins.
