FSU Defense Clamped Down In Second Half

The FSU defense in the first half was abysmal. They had one takeaway on an interception and a turnover on downs. However, Florida ran the ball well and hit way too many explosive plays in the passing game due to communication issues.

FSU allowed 8 yards per play in the first half, and FSU was lucky the offense showed up to keep pace with the Florida offense. FSU trailed 24-21 at halftime, but the FSU defense shut down the Gators for the entire third quarter.

They only allowed 55 total yards in the third quarter while the FSU offense started cooking. Florida scored 14 points in the fourth quarter, but they had to work for them. When the dust settled, and the FSU defense got the final stop to end the game?

They had only allowed 4.7 ypp in the second half, forcing back-to-back punts to start the third quarter, which was critical in allowing the FSU offense to get back in the game.

It wasn’t their best outing, but there were some guys I saw in the game who haven’t been out there much at all.

I know that was key on the last rushing touchdown for Florida, with Sydney Williams and Amari Gainer failing to line up before the ball got snapped.
