Florida Struggles To Stop The Run

I explained how Florida lacks a pass rush and fails to create havoc at the line of scrimmage against good teams.

They also don’t stop the run well. Opposing offenses average 4.45 yards per rush against the Gators and it’s not like they’ve faced a litany of dual-threat quarterbacks like Jordan Travis.

Here’s a key stat to remember. FSU football has rushed for over 200 yards in six consecutive games and Florida has allowed over 200 rushing yards in four contests this year.

In contrast, FSU has only allowed 200 rushing yards once this year, in a win against Louisville and one of the best dual-threat QBs in the nation, Malik Cunningham.

Heck, four other teams have rushed for 150 yards or more on the Gators. Here’s the dilemma for Billy Napier.

If they try to commit to stopping the run? They have to contend with Jordan Travis and a variety of weapons in the passing attack, not to mention Jordan Travis can still run when he needs to.
