FSU football: 3 huge facts about 2022 Syracuse football
By Kelvin Hunt
Can’t Stop The Run
NC State’s offense is lackluster with their starting QB, but it’s putrid without him, and the Wolfpack managed only 95 yards on 38 carries.
However, things have changed since that game. Clemson rushed for 293 yards on 60 carries. Notre Dame rushed for 246 yards on 56 carries, and Pittsburgh rushed for 161 yards on 48 carries.
The Orange has allowed eight rushing touchdowns over the last three games. That doesn’t sound like a recipe for success, as FSU football has rushed for over 200 yards in four consecutive games, and that’s without starting running back Treshaun Ward, who could return to action Saturday night.
Opposing teams have taken advantage of the lack of size and depth on the Syracuse defensive line, wearing them down with the run game.
If they look to bring more guys into the box against the run, that opens up the passing game. Just look at what FSU football did to Miami’s defense, who faced the same dilemma last week.
Overall
Syracuse has a lot of holes on both sides of the ball. Their offense is built around three players which FSU should be able to handle, and FSU has played better defenses. As long as the offense shows up like they have in the last two games? FSU should win and cover the -6.5 spread.
