FSU football: 5 takeaways from ‘Noles dominating win over Miami

FSU Special Teams Were Huge
Ryan Fitzgerald made a 41-yard field goal right down the middle and looked confident when he came on the field for the attempt.
It’s his fourth consecutive field goal attempt made, and he made every extra-point. His resurgence this season continues to be something you have to admire.
The unsung hero was FSU punter Alex Mastromanno. The Aussie only punted three times in the game, but landed all three punts inside the Miami 20-yard line.
He had one punt fair caught at the Miami 17-yard line, and two more downed inside the Miami 5-yard line by FSU punt coverage unit.
Miami’s offense wasn’t any good, but pinning them deep in their territory made it incredibly difficult for their quarterbacks to do anything, and one of those punts resulted in an interception that gave the FSU offense the ball at the Miami seven-yard line.
That touchdown was the proverbial nail in the coffin that made the score 28-3 in the first half. Miami came into the game touting one of the better kickoff return units, but they only returned two for an 18.5 yard average return.
