FSU football: 3 takeaways from ‘Noles loss against NC State

Offensive Choke Job In Second Half
I don’t understand how the FSU offense went from 35 plays and 294 yards in the first half to 24 plays and 93 yards in the second half.
They had to know NC State wasn’t going to lay down when they came out and scored a touchdown on their first offensive possession in the second half. The playcalling left a lot to be desired, often running first-down plays right into run blitzes.
Penalties killed FSU as well, as they had 11 penalties for 100 yards in the game. The FSU wide receivers seemed to be on different pages, often running routes into the same areas. It’s stuff that we haven’t seen all year and shouldn’t be happening in game six of the season.
Jordan Travis looked hesitant at times, and didn’t take off and run when he could have picked up a lot of easy yards. I get he wants to keep his eyes downfield, but he has to realize they had been behind the chains way too much and needed to get the easy positive yardage.
I wish they would have run Jordan Travis more instead of running plays with Trey Benson and Lawrance Toafili. They missed Treshaun Ward’s effect o the offense in the second half to. Here are the FSU offensive possessions in the second half: punt, punt, punt, punt, interception, and interception.
