FSU football: Fans react to Hykeem Williams commitment to Noles
By Kelvin Hunt
It has been a long time since FSU football fans could cheer the Noles getting a commitment from a five-star wide receiver.
It hasnβt happened since the 2015 recruiting cycle when George Campbell committed to the Noles.
However, five-star wide receiver Hykeem Williams changed that history with his commitment Friday afternoon.
The Florida native chose among FSU, Texas A&M, Alabama, Georgia, and Pittsburgh. Most folks felt the battle came down to FSU and Texas A&M, with the Noles beating out the former FSU coach after Williams observed that offense in person against Miami last week.
Nole fans were cautiously optimistic despite predictions of Williams trending in their direction.
However, they exploded once the commitment became official.

Thoughts
FSU fans have every right to celebrate the hard work of the coaching staff. Itβs been a long time since the program has gotten a receiver ranked this high, and it hurts even more because George Campbell never lived up to his five-star ranking.
Not to mention getting difference-makers at the skill positions is something FSU must continue to do if they want to get back to elite status.
Johnny Wilson and Mycah Pittman are former top 100ish players in their respective recruiting cycles, and we can see the impact they have made on the FSU offense already. Williams ranks as the No. 22 nationally, No. 4 wide receiver, and No. 5 player in Florida. Williams lists at 6β3β² and 205 pounds.
More importantly, Williams hails from South Florida, within the imaginary fence the Miami Hurricanes love to talk about regarding recruiting. FSU coaches also signed his former high school teammate, Omar Graham Jr. in the last recruiting cycle.
It looks like this staff has finally started making inroads in the state after a rough start due to COVID and lack of in-state relationships. If they continue winning, things could get spooky in Tallahassee.
