Find Success Early

An excerpt from the original post:

"FSU is a team that believes they can beat LSU in their home state. A team that knows if they beat LSU, they set themselves up to turn a lot of heads nationally, and the effect on recruiting would be massive. I believe this team learned how to deal and overcome adversity last year, which should bolster that confidence going into 2022. If they can get off to a fast start, a touchdown on their opening drive, or a 10-0 or 14-0 lead? I think it’ll be off to the races for this team Sunday night."

The game didn’t get off to a great start, but holding LSU to a field goal on their first possession with a drive that began at their 40-yard line was a win. The missed field goal on FSU’s first offensive possession wasn’t ideal, but they eventually settled in and took a 7-3 lead into halftime. So there were glimmers of success early, and not going down 7-0 or 10-3 or worse on the road was a success.

I think they played well enough early to know they belonged on the field, which ultimately morphed into times where FSU football dominated LSU on both sides of the ball. LSU couldn’t stop FSU’s offense and FSU’s defense was terrorizing the LSU quarterback all night.

Overall, I’d say they got the job done here aside from the less than ideal start to the game and winning the early downs(especially on offense). It was a great win for the Noles and we look forward to our keys to defeating Louisville next week.
