FSU football: 3 reasons Noles defeated LSU Tigers
By Kelvin Hunt
It took a blocked extra point attempt for the Noles to come out of the Super Dome victorious over the LSU Tigers 24-23 Sunday night. However, the game should have never been close.
FSU dropped two touchdown passes and fumbled the ball on their one-yard line, providing an opportunity for LSU to tie the game as time expired.
The FSU offense controlled LSU’s defense, only punting once in the first half, and again on their final possession as they were looking to run the clock out. FSU averaged 5.52 yards per play, and Jordan Travis looked nearly as comfortable against LSU as he did against Duquense a week ago.
Travis finished the game 20-33 for 260 yards, two touchdowns, and 31 rushing yards. FSU wide receivers had at least four drops, which likely prevented Travis from going over 300 passing yards and a much higher completion percentage.
However, the wide receivers made some big-time catches throughout the game. Johnny Wilson dropped a touchdown pass but had a couple of important receptions.
Mycah Pittman had a couple of tough catches to move the chains, and Deuce Spann contributed in the passing and running game.
Defensively, the Noles harassed Jayden Daniels all night, and a ton of their production came on the final drive, with him running for his life all night. Here are the three reasons FSU defeated the LSU Tigers.
