Setting The Edge

FSU defensive coordinator Adam Fuller played mostly base defense and had all types of combinations of players in the game Saturday night.

I think we understand they won’t go as deep in the lineup against LSU and some things that happened Saturday night likely won’t consistently happen when the starters are in the game.

However, there was one play where I saw Amari Gainer and Dennis Briggs fail to set the edge, which resulted in a long run for a Duquense running back.

I saw it happen once with Jared Verse if I recall correctly, and best believe it’s something Brian Kelly will look to exploit since he loves to establish the running game, much like Mike Norvell.

I’m not concerned with the run defense up the middle, but with relatively new guys at the defensive end positions?

LSU will look to attack there to see if those guys will remain disciplined in their assignments instead of looking to play hero ball.

I also need these guys to not run past the play with a mobile quarterback like Jayden Daniels.
