Linebacker Play

The linebacker unit took a step forward last season with the emergence of Kalen DeLoach, and DJ Lundy probably had a better season than most want to give him credit.

Randy Shannon appears to be an upgrade over Chris Marve from a coaching aspect, and the addition of UCF transfer Tatum Bethune looks to turn this unit into one of strength.

Not to mention, DJ Lundy has transformed his body and looks better in coverage than last year. The Noles will likely only play two linebackers at once in their nickel defense.

The combination of DeLoach and Bethune will be the best FSU has had since arguably 2015. Then Amari Gainer and DJ Lundy have experience and are serviceable, and freshman Omar Graham Jr. looks promising.

The biggest improvement we need to see from this group is better coverage in space on third downs, and the need for more impact plays behind the line of scrimmage.

If the defense can get those things from this unit? This defense could take that next step forward.
