FSU football fielded an inconsistent offense in much of the 2021 season. Turnovers plagued the Noles early, with 11 turnovers in the first four games, so the 0-4 record shouldn’t have been too surprising in hindsight.

The offense averaged 23 points in the first four games. A combination of FSU coaches getting cute trying to play two quarterbacks, turnovers, and lack of talent at wide receiver were the main culprits.

However, the offense began to find an identity once Jordan Travis became the starter for good in the fifth game, which led to their first win against Syracuse.

The offense averaged 31.2 ppg when Jordan Travis was the starting quarterback over the final seven games.

Despite the improvement with Travis at quarterback, the offense still had issues, especially against the better defenses on the schedule.

FSU coaches have spent a lot of time developing the passing game under Travis and went to the transfer portal to acquire talent at the wide receiver position.

The coaches beefed up the offensive line with more depth, so the offense should be more potent in 2022. However, there are big areas the offense must improve for the Noles to win games in 2022.
