FSU football: What’s the ceiling for Deuce Spann’s 2022 production?

Deuce Spann Projection
As I said on my latest podcast, I think Span is a year away from becoming a major contributor. I don’t see FSU throwing the ball 40 times per game, but Spann could still become a factor similar to Terry early in the 2018 season.
Here are Terry’s stats through the first seven games that year:
-2 receptions for 39 yards
-2 receptions for 44 yards (2 touchdowns)
-2 receptions for 17 yards
-2 receptions for 77 yards (one touchdown)
-3 receptions for 71 yards (one touchdown)
-2 receptions for 37 yards (one touchdown)
-1 reception for 21 yards
That’s 14 receptions for 306 yards and five touchdowns in seven games, which averages 21.8 yards per reception.
Spann averaged 25 yards per reception in 2021 at Illinois. Is it conceivable for Spann to make two catches per game in 2022? If so, that’s 24 receptions in a 12-game season which would tie for the team lead among all FSU wide receivers in 2021.
I don’t want to talk negatively about a former player. Terry played hard in games but didn’t necessarily have the best practice work ethic, which is why we saw him in orange jerseys at practice.
However, Mike Norvell is adamant that Spann wants to be great, and his emergence over the first week in fall camp could be indicative of the work put in between spring and summer workouts.
I’m still skeptical unless Spann continues to flash the rest of fall camp and earns a starting spot.
However, the potential is there for him to have much more of an impact than anyone thought possible if he can get anywhere close to what Tamorrion Terry produced as a redshirt freshman in 2018.
