Jared Verse-DE

Jared Verse is already one of the most vocal and best trash talkers, and his practice habits look like he’ll back up most of that on the field. Verse will be partly responsible for replacing the production of ACC Defensive Player of the Year Jermaine Johnson from last year’s team.

He’ll likely be on the field for lots of snaps this season, and I’d expect him to make an impact on the defense. However, I don’t expect him to provide the same consistency that Johnson did because this is his first year playing at the Power 5 level, and he doesn’t have the experience yet.

He’s physically ready to play and has an incredible motor, which should serve him well in making plays all over the field.

When I look at production for the season, can Verse provide 30+ tackles, 5-6 tackles for a loss, and 4-5 sacks? I think that’s within reach and would be comparable to what Janarius Robinson provided for the 2019 defense through 13 games.

However, I think Verse is more explosive and probably has more pass rush moves than Robinson at this point.
