FSU baseball: 2023 LHP Brady Louck is first Link Jarrett commit
By Kelvin Hunt
FSU baseball head coach Link Jarrett is on the board with his first high school prep commitment.
2023 left-handed pitcher Brady Louck announced his commitment to the Noles Friday afternoon. Louck is a former Notre Dame commitment and ranks as the No. 187 player nationally, and the No. 8 player in Illinois.
He is the 14th commitment in the 2023 FSU baseball recruiting class.
FSU baseball ranked No. 21 nationally before the commitment, according to Perfect Game. Louck’s commitment should help them crack the top 20.
Louck announced the commitment via his Twitter account:
Brady Louck lists at 5’10” and 170 pounds with a fastball consistently around 90 mph and capable of touching 93 mph.
The footage embedded above shows him working both sides of the plate with an easy delivery. It looks like he features a four-seam fastball with some late run. The curveball goes 11-5, and the change-up clocks at around 80-82 mph.
That 10 mph difference between the fastball and changeup is solid. Louck has shown steady improvement year-to-year as his fastball was in the 87-88 mph range, topping out at 89 mph in July 2021. He’ll have the potential to maximize his ability once he gets to college and gets into a strength and conditioning program.
He could easily put on another 15-20 pounds and add a couple more miles per hour to his fastball. The good news is he already has a solid command of three pitches, and Link Jarrett’s staff does a good job in player development.
The pitching staff at Notre Dame was among the top in several categories in the ACC last season.
I’m sure the coaching staff will recruit the southeast hard, but they are still taking advantage of the relationships they have in the midwest while they still can with this addition from Illinois. Welcome to Nolenation Brady Louck!
