FSU Is In A Good Spot Despite National Ranking

FSU football fans have some unrealistic expectations, but admittedly, if I were a casual fan, I’d probably be more critical of the No. 40 national composite ranking.

However, they have the makings of one of the best trench classes in the nation as a foundation, despite a losing record in the past four years. Also, the 2023 recruiting class has a 90.25 per player average, which is higher than 23 teams ranked ahead of them.

No question, there have been misses on the recruiting trail, and the quarterback position comes to mind immediately. However, I addressed how there isn’t that big of a difference between who they had committed or targeted and who they’ll likely target next.

All of them were developmental guys. The good news is they already had made progress towards new QB targets in the event they missed on their top targets.

Tight-end recruiting continues to be a question mark, but that’s a roster position that already has a ton of bodies dedicated to it.

The wide receiver has two solid additions, with the coaching staff going whale hunting with big-time playmakers. FSU football fans criticize for not targeting elite players but then whine about how they’ll likely miss those targets too.

They are in the same boat at linebacker, with four-star Blake Nichelson trending towards FSU. They have some other quality targets left at positions, and if they land, they will likely finish with a top 20 class.
