Johnny Wilson

Johnny Wilson is a guy I can’t wait to see suit up in the garnet and gold. I get Kelvin Benjamin vibes from him, with his size and speed, though he may be a tad faster than Benjamin.

Wilson impressed some at spring practice, and getting those reps should prove valuable as Wilson continues to learn the offense. Like West, he has had issues with drops here and there, but his 12 receptions in five games before an injury sidelined him the rest of the season would have put him nearly halfway to FSU’s team leader in receptions last year.

Wilson will be a factor in the blocking game on the perimeter which will prove valuable, but I also look for him to make a difference in the red zone and on third downs.

A former top 115 recruit out of high school, Wilson is the type of talent FSU has been missing for several years.

Some media folks point limited production at Arizona State, but he had 18 receptions for 243 yards and one touchdown in eight games. If FSU can get 25-30 receptions and 400-500 yards in 2022? That would be on par with what Kelvin Benjamin produced in his redshirt sophomore season at FSU.
