Defensive Backs Improved Over 2021

The FSU secondary began to figure some things out in the final eight games. Jammie Robinson moving to safety, the emergence of Akeem Dent at the other safety position, and the emergence of freshman Omarion Cooper at the boundary cornerback position answered questions.

Starter Jarvis Brownlee entered the transfer portal, but he wasn’t great in coverage and didn’t have the best attitude.

The coaching staff will look toward Renardo Green to potentially replace him. Kevin Knowles and Greedy Vance will likely play at the nickel position, with freshmen Sam McCall and Azareye’h Thomas looking for playing time at cornerback and possibly safety for McCall.

I think the experience of All-ACC First Teamer Jamie Robinson and the continuity of the other guys in the secondary should make this unit much better compared to last year.

I don’t think it will take them 4-5 games to figure it out since most of the positions are likely set. I like what Jarques McClellion and Sydney Williams bring in reserve roles at safety. I am curious to see if Demorie Tate will find a way to finally get snaps at cornerback.

Will Travis Jay figure it out? The same goes for Shyheim Brown, but overall, this unit should be better.
