Final Thoughts

Most improvement on special teams will come down to better decision-making and execution and better players participating with that unit.

I’m sure the coaching staff has placed emphasis on these items, but they need to fruits of that labor to show up in 2022.

Better coaching and communication of what to do in certain situations can eliminate issues.
Accountability will come into play too.

A player allowing punts to hit the ground shouldn’t be trotted back on the field to do it over and over.

I didn’t get into field goal kicking, but Ryan Fitzgerald was solid last season, making 10 of 13 attempts.

However, FSU looks to get into the business of scoring touchdowns instead of field goals, and last season was a good start to that, with touchdowns scored 75 percent in each red zone trip.

Improving field position alone should allow for a greater margin of error for the offense and defense in 2022.
