Defensive Back

The defensive back position is one they have flirted with several players over the past few weeks.

The departures of Jarvis Brownlee and Hunter Washington have opened the door for them to take another transfer to the position.

They have had players like Josh Newton and Justice Ugo on campus to visit in recent weeks. However, the coaching staff doesn’t seem to be pressing hard for these targets to commit to the Noles. Newton ultimately decided to transfer to TCU, and Ugo committed to Houston.

It’s a tricky spot because FSU returns a ton of talent and experience in the secondary, but they’ll run a lot of nickel, which means they’ll have three cornerbacks and two safeties on the field most of the time.

So while defensive backs will play, there’s no guarantee a transfer would gain a ton of playing time. That’s one of the most important aspects with most transfers.

There isn’t much to choose from at the position in the portal, but it’s evident they’d take someone if they felt they were the right fit.
