Linebacker

The coaching staff did a poor job closing on high school linebacker recruits in the 2021 cycle, which meant they had to go to the transfer portal for help.

They found a gem in former UCF linebacker Tatum Bethune, who just so happened to be coached by FSU linebacker coach Randy Shannon while he was at UCF. The addition of Bethune coupled with Kalen DeLoach may provide FSU with the best linebacker duo since the 2014-15 seasons.

However, there’s little depth behind them other than Amari Gainer and DJ Lundy. Freshman Omar Graham looks promising, but the Noles could use one more body that’s ready to play in 2022. It’s why the coaching staff has extended offers like the two below:

I don’t expect the Noles to land him but they were the first team to offer once he entered the transfer portal. He had over 100 tackles last season at James Madison and has plenty of experience as a graduate transfer.

Jefferson is a JUCO product that’s racking up offers from some big time Power 5 programs. Again, it was to be someone realistic and the right fit, but they’d take someone at linebacker if he met those qualifications.
