FSU football: Which positions need most focus after 2022 spring camp?
By Kelvin Hunt
Offensive Line
I think it’s fair to say we have seen improvement from the offensive line over the last two seasons. Some were because teams had to respect the running ability of Jordan Travis, but there was an improvement overall.
The running backs all averaged 5.09 yards per rush or better, and there were times when FSU quarterbacks had some time to find receivers.
The lack of depth came into play as the injury bug made appearances, with multiple players playing while hurt. It’s a prime reason why FSU coaches continue to use the transfer portal to address needs at the position.
The additions of Bless Harris and Kayden Lyles should prove to be impactful additions. However, spring camp showed the Noles probably need more additional help from the transfer portal. It’s one reason why the Noles have been going so hard after former five-star Amarius Mims.
The FSU starting five is a solid group, it’s the lack of depth, and the fall-off after that, that’s the problem, not to mention some guys are not playing their natural position.
These players need to hit strength and conditioning hard as the difference in size between Mims and some of the guys on the team when he visited was scary.
If they can get more help from the portal, and get bigger and stronger, this unit has a chance to be better than average in 2022.
