The weather God was merciful Saturday and FSU football completed its spring game with over 30,000 in attendance and lots of recruits in attendance.

I was satisfied with what I saw for the most part. The spring practices have been fruitful with both sides of the ball looking much better coordinated than in previous years.

Many of the spring enrollees showed they could be factors for the Noles in 2022. The majority of the players the coaches got from the transfer portal looked like they will make an impact as well.

Let’s get into my three observations from the spring game

It’s Jordan Travis or Bust at QB

One of the players I wanted to see perform well in the spring game was QB Tate Rodemaker. However, Rodemaker’s first pass on the day was an interception thrown in a simulated two-point conversion.

Rodemaker did complete one pass under pressure that would have been a touchdown(that was ruled a sack).

However, he missed some open throws, including a wide open pass to Johnny Wilson that would have been a touchdown. If Jordan Travis has to come out of the game for any reason, I’m not sure I’m sold on Rodemaker improving enough that there’s not a huge drop off.

The knock on him is he performs well at practice but folds when there’s people in the stands, and Saturday didn’t help his case to prove otherwise.
