FSU football: 12 players to watch for in the 2022 spring game

Special Teams
Alex Mastromanno-Some folks liked to criticize Mastromanno last year. However, the guy had a solid sophomore campaign, averaging nearly 43 yards per punt. That’s higher than Shawn Powell’s sophomore year in 2011. However, I’m looking for better hang time and more distance from the Australian in 2022. Hopefully, we don’t have to see him as much as we have in his first two seasons. However, he could prove to be a weapon on special teams with improvement.
Ryan Fitzgerald-Fitzgerald wasn’t automatic in 2021, but he brought a level of stability to FSU field goal kicking we hadn’t seen since the 2017 season. Fitzgerald made 10 of 13 attempts and 37 of 40 extra-point attempts. The latter is something he has to improve. The Noles were one of the better teams at scoring touchdowns in the red zone last year. I hope that continues, but also hope Fitzgerald elevates his play so I don’t worry when they trot him on the field to make a 44-yard field goal.
