Which Players Will Emerge In The Secondary?

The secondary will need to be on point with the expected fall off from the pass rush position with the departure of Jermaine Johnson and Keir Thomas.

I’ve mentioned Cooper and Robinson as pretty much locks to start. I think Akeem Dent will see reps at the other safety position. This leaves the position vacated by Jarvis Brownlee and the nickel corner position up for grabs.

The intricate thing about that is that many of these players are interchangeable at each position, meaning they could play nickel or the field cornerback spot.

I wrote about the players vying for the cornerback spot when Jarvis Brownlee entered the transfer portal. Saturday’s scrimmage could go a long way in determining who gains the upper hand in potentially winning that job.

However, that’s not to say players like Cooper and Dent don’t need to show up and play well, as guys are still competing. Will Sam McCall build on Thursday’s big day at practice?

Renardo Green might have the inside track to the field cornerback job if he can continue to build on what’s he’s done so far through spring camp.

If that’s the case, then we know it’ll likely be Kevin Knowles and Greedy Vance battling it out for the nickel spot.
