Azareye’h Thomas

Azareye’h Thomas is a true freshman who’s already turning heads in spring camp. The former top 100 player from the 2022 class enrolled this spring and figures to play early. He lists at 6’2 and 187 pounds, and probably profiles to play the boundary position, but could play the field corner position. He has outstanding length and the ability to change direction at his height. I’m not sure how long it’ll take him to get on the field as a freshman, but he’ll be a factor and will likely play on Sunday’s.

Hunter Washington

Another smaller defensive back that fits the bill is former four-star defensive back Hunter Washington. Washington signed with the Noles in the 2021 recruiting cycle and redshirted as a freshman. He lists at 5’11 and 181 pounds and was FSU’s Special Teams Scout Player of the Year. I haven’t heard much about Washington standing out at spring practice, but he’s a talented player who could find himself on the field if begins to put it together at practice.

Overall

There is a solid mixture of experience and talent in these five guys alone. There’s only one field corner position, which means some of these guys will be competing for the nickel position as well. It could be the coaches rotate guys until they figure out who fits where the best, and I haven’t included any of the guys that will be competing for the boundary cornerback position. FSU football will be fine without Brownlee, and hopefully, he lands at the best spot for what he wants to do.
