FSU football: How Winston Wright Jr. injury could affect the Noles
By Kelvin Hunt
FSU football had arguably the worst wide receiver units in the ACC Conference last season. The Noles didn’t have one wide receiver with 25 or more receptions and Ontaria Wilson led all receivers with five touchdowns.
That lack of production influenced the FSU coaches to go to the transfer portal to bring in an infusion of talent to the position. They brought in four transfer wide receivers: Mycah Pittman, Johnny Wilson, Deuce Spann, and Winston Wright Jr.
The latter is the most productive receiver by far, leading West Virginia with 63 receptions for 688 yards and five touchdowns. He also helped in the kick return game where FSU football desperately needs more production.
As luck would have it, Wright Jr. was involved in an automobile accident at home in Savannah, Georgia, according to Noles247. Wright suffered a leg injury with no specifics mentioned other than he was stable and workers had to cut pieces away from both vehicles to remove occupants.
The info I’ve gathered seems like the injury would be a broken leg, but again, that’s subjective. Sometimes people report hairline fractures as broken, etc. Either way, it’s going to take some time for Wright to heal and we’re thankful he and his family will be OK.
Our prayers are with him and his family, but we want to discuss how this could impact things football-wise.
