Key To Victory
Carson Montgomery started both games against the Gators last year and pitched fairly well. He allowed five hits, two earned runs, five walks, and had 14 strikeouts in nine innings. Montgomery notched his first college win and surpassed the five-inning mark for the first time in his last outing against a good hitting FGCU team.
Florida has been using Johnny Wholestaff in their mid-week games for the most part through the early part of the season. Garrett Milchin started both games against the Noles last year and faired well against him. He pitched one inning on Sunday against Seton Hall, so there’s a chance the Noles could face him again. FSU batters will need to pick up where they left off Sunday against Wake Forest. Montgomery will need to pitch efficiently and ahead in the count without issuing walks.
The game will take place Tuesday at 6 p.m. ET and will air on the SEC Network.
