QB Situation

This position could arguably be the most important for the Noles going into fall camp. The FSU coaches elected to go all-in on Jordan Travis, who has yet to play a full season due to injuries. If Jordan Travis can remain healthy, I think FSU football could win 7+ games.

If he gets hurt and misses multiple games, and the coaching staff doesn’t bring in another quarterback from the transfer portal? That likely expediates Mike Norvell’s time here as head coach. Even if they bring in a transfer quarterback at this point, how effective could he be since he’d have to learn the offense between summer and fall camp?

Will Tate Rodemaker be serviceable in his third year? You would think that would be the case, but he has little experience and hasn’t shown any flashes when he does get into games. That leaves freshman early enrollee AJ Duffy.

Duffy is the son of a coach and has been working to learn the offense since he committed to the Noles last year. He has some solid traits and likely is the future of the program, but do you want to put him in the fire in year one? I doubt it. Hopefully, Jordan Travis will continue to show progression as a passer and make better decisions on when to use his legs while avoiding big hits.
