Wide Receiver

I know some FSU football fans expected to see the offensive line at No. 1. However, that unit improved last season before injuries took their toll because of a lack of depth.

The wide receiver unit? Man, they have been abysmal the past couple of years outside of Tamorrion Terry, and he was fairly limited. The leading receiver from last season was once again Ontaria Wilson, who finished with 23 receptions for 382 yards and five touchdowns.

Think about it, FSU didn’t hasn’t had one receiver surpassing 400 receiving yards(besides Tamorrion Terry) since 2018 with Nyqwan Murry.

Running back Jashaun Corbin had the most receptions with 25 last year. It’s why the coaching staff went to the transfer portal and signed four wide receivers. Mycah Pittman, Johnny Wilson, Deuce Spann, and Winston Wright.

Wright has proven to be the most productive and Pittman has shown flashes in limited duty while battling injuries and poor QB play while at Oregon. Wilson and Spann likely have the highest upside but are unproven.

The wide receiver’s inability to get open has hurt the FSU offense the past few years as teams know they can bring pressure in passing situations without the threat of getting burned too much.

This unit has to step up in 2022 if FSU football wants to win the coin flip games on the schedule, especially if the defense takes a step back.
