Akeem Dent

Akeem Dent is the highest-rated recruit from the 2019 class. Dent had a strong freshman season, totaling 35 tackles, 1.5 for loss, and seven pass breakups.

The pass breakups total was the most in ACC by a true freshman, but at least four of those should have been interceptions.

Dent is similar to Lucas, as he suffered an injury in the Sun Bowl against Arizona State and may not have been able to rehab properly due to the pandemic.

There was a sharp downturn in his play as a sophomore, as teams completed nearly every pass thrown in his direction(no exaggeration).

He finished the season with 13 tackles, one pass breakup, and one quarterback hurry in seven games with five starts. I wasn’t sure what the 2021 season would hold for Dent, but he rebounded nicely and seemed to find a role at safety in the secondary.

He finished the season with 44 tackles, four passes defended, 1.5 tackles for a loss, and one game-winning interception against Boston College.

Dent improved greatly, but there are still another couple of levels to reach for him to reach his potential as the highest-rated recruit in the 2019 class.
