Pitching

Starting pitchers Parker Messick and Bryce Hubbbart were as advertised in the first two games. Messick went 5.2 innings and finished with 11 strikeouts, one walk, two hits, and one earned run.

Freshman Jackson Baumeister came into a crucial situation and got three outs, striking out two and walking one with no hits allowed.

Bryce Hubbart went five innings and finished with 13 strikeouts, no walks, two hits, and no runs allowed. Four FSU pitchers from the bullpen combined for the final four innings, allowing two runs, six hits, and striking out six batters against one walk.

The third game saw Ross Dunn struggle with his control in the third game. He went 2.1 innings, allowing one hit, one earned run, walking four, and striking out three. Dunn will need to throw strikes more consistently if he wants to keep the Sunday starting role.

The FSU bullpen used six pitchers, and some of them struggled with strikes, walking six batters against seven strikeouts and eight hits allowed. Mike Martin Jr. used the sizable leads as opportunities to get several guys into their first action of the year.

These opportunities will let him know who he can consistently depend on when he needs them.
