Dennis Briggs Jr.

Dennis Briggs Jr. is a player some people forget about, but he could be arguably the most important player on the defense in 2021.

Briggs suffered an injury on a dirty play against Louisville last season and missed the final eight games. He was playing at a high level at defensive tackle, but will likely move back to defensive end with the departure of Keir Thomas.

Briggs had a strong redshirt freshman season in 2019, finishing with 28 tackles, 3.5 tackles for a loss, and one sack. He only played in five games in the COVID short 2020 season but flashed a few times.

He was one of the better rushing defensive tackles before his injury last year, and the hope is he can bring that pass rush ability to the defensive end position.

If he’s able to do that, it will help offset the loss of Keir Thomas and likely help the defense take another step forward in 2022.
