Robert Cooper

I’ve talked about the importance of Mike Norvell and the staff addressing the defensive tackle position in the 2023 recruiting cycle.

One reason is Robert Cooper will likely be gone after the 2022 season, and FSU was quite lucky he decided to take advantage of the COVID year and play a fifth year in 2022. Cooper hasn’t lived up to his No. 117 national ranking out of high school.

He’s done a great job of reshaping his body to be more effective and play more snaps without gassing.

Cooper was part of the defensive line becoming the strength of the team in 2021. He finished with 39 tackles, 4.5 tackles for a loss, half of a sack, and three QB hurries.

Can Cooper turn in a better super senior season? I’m not sure he hasn’t maxed out his potential, but it would be great if he could find another gear and become a consistently dominant defensive tackle in 2022.

His pairing with Fabien Lovett should be one of the better duos in the ACC.
