Camren McDonald

McDonald is the lone Westcoast Nole left on the squad from the 2018 recruiting class. McDonald went into the 2021 season as the most experienced tight end on the roster, with 23 receptions for 263 yards and two touchdowns in the COVID shortened 2020 season.

That was solid production for a guy that went into the 2020 season with six career receptions. I thought McDonald would have better numbers than what he produced in 2021, but some of that probably was the quarterback issues that plagued FSU in several games.

McDonald finished the 2021 season with 24 receptions for 243 yards and two touchdowns. McDonald’s best offensive game came against Syracuse, where he had five receptions for 41 yards and a touchdown.

He didn’t record a reception against No. 8 Notre Dame, No. 14 Clemson, No. 20 NC State, and only had one reception for -1 yard against Miami.

McDonald has to become more of a threat in the passing game, and hopefully, an improved Jordan Travis can make more use of him in 2022.
