Boston College Early

I wasn’t impressed with Boston College before the 2021 season and ranked them as the most overrated team on the schedule.

I thought quarterback Phil Jurkovec was good, but nothing special, and it sure looked that way when the Noles beat the brakes off them in the first half before the referees kept Boston College in the game.

Jurkovec and top receiver Zay Jones return, but it’s another Boston College team FSU should beat with them traveling to Doak Campbell Stadium. The Eagles will play Rutgers and Virginia Tech in the first two weeks before playing a cupcake in Maine.

They’ll likely be 3-0 coming into Doak, but they will be breaking in a new offensive coordinator who they hired Monday. That’s still early enough in the season that they’ll likely have to work through some kinks.

FSU’s defensive ends, Jermaine Johnson and Keir Thomas gave Jurkovec nightmares last year. They are gone, but FSU’s defensive line should be stout against the run and should have better linebacker and secondary play.

I don’t think FSU’s offense will have any problems scoring points against the Eagles.
