The Toughest Games

We’ve mentioned seven games on the schedule so far, which leaves five games that FSU will likely be underdogs or 50/50 games:

  • Louisville (A)
  • NC State (A)
  • Miami (A)
  • Clemson (H)
  • Wake Forest (H)

The Noles went 1-4 against this group last year, but could have been 2-3, or possibly 3-2 if half the team wasn’t sick against NC State. The only problem is all five teams return their starting quarterbacks, with four of them being among the best in the conference.

Three of these games are road games. Can we still count Miami as Doak south? Can FSU win three of these games? That’s what it’s going to take to reach eight wins unless the Noles can defeat LSU early in the year. If that happens, I think that will change most projected win totals.

I wouldn’t mind putting Miami or Clemson earlier in the schedule since they’ll have new coordinators if Miami hires anyone by then. FSU football returns almost everyone from last year on both sides of the ball, plus earlier in the year means FSU will likely be closer to full strength compared to later in the year.
