FSU football: 3 thoughts on Oregon transfer RB Trey Benson commitment
By Kelvin Hunt
Final Thoughts
I understand the frustration of some FSU football fans. I know they want the best players available to help this program get back to where it once was. However, there’s more to it than looking at star rankings and production.
Every player isn’t a take, although they may have been highly recruited out of high school and shown production in college. On the flip side, it’s understandable to question this commitment considering the injury history.
However, looking at the picture in totality, it looks as though they have done their homework and like what Benson brings to the running back room. Is it a gamble? Sure it is, but just a reminder, these coaches have access to way more information than any fan or so-called insider. It’s Mike Norvell’s job on the line to win enough games to say off of the hot seat in 2023.
If his evaluations indicate Trey Benson can help FSU do that? Who am I to question it? If Benson turns out to not contribute much in 2022, but Treshaun Ward, Lawrance Toafili, DJ Williams, and Jordan Travis carry the rushing attack?
Does it matter? Not really. So like on most occasions, sit back and let it play out, but in the meantime root like hell for the player that chose to help this program get back to where it wants to go. He seems eager to prove a lot of people wrong, so let’s see how it all shakes out.
