FSU got their No. 1 defensive end target with Jared Verse’s commitment Friday night. I wouldn’t mind taking another one if they can find a quality player. If they can’t, I wouldn’t mind taking a transfer defensive tackle. Fabien Lovett hasn’t announced his intentions of returning for 2022 or declaring for the NFL Draft.

If he returns, FSU football will lose Lovett and Robert Cooper after the 2022 season. That leaves Malcolm Ray, Jarrett Jackson, and a ton of younger players that may not be ready to contribute a ton of snaps in 2023.

If Lovett declares for the NFL Draft, the defensive tackle position has depth, but a transfer could help fill the void left by Lovett instead of FSU depending on players like Schambre Jackson and Joshua Farmer to play major minutes in their second year.

A quality transfer defensive tackle also helps with the Tyre West miss on Early Signing Day. The defense’s strength was the defensive line and their ability to stop the run in 2021.

I know they are in the market for a defensive tackle because they offered the defensive tackle from Hawaii a couple of weeks ago. They won’t get that player, but someone could emerge between now and April once spring practices conclude.
